ABOUT

Podiatry

What is Podiatry?

Most of us suffer with painful feet at some time in our lives. If your feet are sore you're sore all over. This is particularly true for certain groups of the population: diabetics, those with poor circulation, arthritis sufferers and the elderly. Many people suffer some degree of immobility because of foot problems.

What can be done?

With its 26 bones, 33 muscles and 100 ligaments, the foot requires proper care and attention to keep functioning well. All age groups can and do visit our experienced Podiatry team. Our aim is to improve mobility and maintain fit, active and pain free feet for all patients visiting St Georges.

All our Podiatrists are experts in their field, and each practitioner has over 30 years of experience in the profession. With our experience and extensive range of available treatments we can accurately advise on all your foot health concerns.

All our practitioners are members of the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).

What can Podiatrists treat?

Our Podiatry team can diagnose and provide treatment and advice for problems that occur below the ankle joint. The more common problems we encounter include corns, callus, verrucae, ingrowing nails and fungal infections of the skin and nails, but we are also qualified to carry out more complex treatments. We can administer local anesthetics, perform minor surgery (for example Nail Avulsion), and we offer biomechanical examinations to identify problems with foot structure and gait which we then treat using insoles or orthotics. We also have a full range of foot care products available to purchase as part of your personalised treatment plan.
