What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is known to be more than 4,000 years old. It is based on the Chinese theory that energy travels through the body through meridians in the body. The meridians bring energy to the major organs. When there is a blockage in the meridian, energy becomes unbalanced and can result in blockages and disease, both physical, emotional and mental.
Reflexology works to release energy blockages in the meridians thereby opening a freeflow of balanced energy and releasing or preventing disease. A major treatment for stress reduction, is also used for pain relief, muscle relaxation, and increase in blood circulation. It has a good track record in helping with back pain, tension headaches, stress related illness and digestive problems. It brings on a general sense of well being.
On your first visit, expect to spend time discussing your overall health, medical history and lifestyle. Gentle pressure is applied to the feet. Sensitive, trained hands can detect tiny deposits and imbalances in the feet and by working on these areas, the Reflexologist can release blockages and restore the freeflow of energy to the whole body.
You may require six to eight treatments, depending on your body needs. For the most part the sensation is pleasant and soothing. This gentle therapy encourages the body to heal itself at its own pace.
